Making Art happen!

July 24-26, 2015
AnySquared and ABC/Project Logan primed the wall, projected and outlined
the design. We hosted the Community Paint Day where 100+ people from
the neighborhood came out to help and to paint throughout the day! We got a lot of work done in 7 hours! AnySquared & ABC/Project Logan completed the
wall in the following weeks. Check out these links about the mural:

Gratitude to neighbors who donated to make it happen:
Cole’s Bar, Cafe Mustache, Temple of the Dog, Hairitics, Hyman
Interiors, Radler, Bucket O’ Blood, Threads Etc, East Room, Boiler Room,
Art+Science and artists Nino Rodriguez, Lucky Gnome, and Rita Garcia
Sindelar.

Thanks to our wonderful Community Mural Volunteers.

Big thanks to Unity Park in Logan Square for their neighborly help throughout this project as well as lending us the tent and coolers for the Sunday Paint Day!

Matthew J. Hilker — Photos

Art @ Coles gallery page for Matt Hilker

thegeneha:

On my first visit to Cafe Mustache in Chicago’s Logan Square I was stunned to see Matthew J. Hilker’s Adventure Time portraits. They were hung on the wall with paper clips. Obsessively detailed and wonderfully creepy. I really love them! I can only post 10 in one post, there are many more.

Beyond Matt’s Facebook page and this entry on the art gallery page for Cole’s Bar he has almost no online presence. He’s a man of mystery…

Eliaz Rodriguez is a self-taught filmmaker from Chicago. In 2008 he co-created the comedy group Wood Sugars and over the next five years produced/directed hundreds of films, web series, podcasts, and live comedy shows. In October of 2013 he made his first solo short film, an adaptation of a true story entitled Beverly, which went on to win Best In Show of the Cinema Minima Residency and Best of Fest of the Indie Incubator Film Fest. Eliaz can also be heard weekly on segments of the podcast he engineers, named CinemaJaw – the greatest movies podcast ever.

Beverly Reed Scott (Oye’) is a gifted writer and fierce activist. Her prose, poetry and messages are conjured from her soul and her rhythmic alignment with nature. She is a natural storyteller, trained in Original Voice Technique by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Jungian Analyst and bestselling author. Her voice is colored by her experiences, having been born, raised in Englewood during the 60’s and 70’s, her coming of age tales are wrought with anguish, joy, love and pain. She is publishing her memoir as a serial and will read from My Perilous Journey #1 Vol. 1.
