On Sunday April 7th at 8pm, Cinema Minima screens TRUE STORIES at Cole’s, 2338 North Milwaukee.

(90 min., 1986) Directed by and starring David Byrne, this whimsical satire takes a tour through a small but growing Texas town, filled with strange and musical characters, celebrating its sesquicentennial “Celebration of Special-ness” converging on a local parade and talent show.  His postmodern vision challenges the conventions of wild wild living through documentary-style re-enactment of stories found in tabloid newspapers.  Casting 50 sets of twins and scored almost entirely by The Talking Heads, this 80’s classic blazes through a land of mediocracy with the usual Byrne.
