AnySquared is rounding up artists for Unity Park’s Art in the Park!

Saturday July 27th 
10am-2pm (Spend all 4 hours or stop in for 1!)
Unity Park in Logan Square
2636 N Kimball, Chicago

Be part of a crew of artists painting alongside neighborhood families! The Unity Park Advisory Committee provides materials (canvases and paint). Bring yourself, make something, experience music and enjoy great company!*** It should be a fun summer day!

If it rains, event will move indoors to Grace Church, 3325 W. Wrightwood

Art made at the event will be displayed during “A Day in Avondale” on September 28.

CLASS:

  • Graffiti Art: History and Evolution
    Saturday, June 15. 2-4pm
    SiLO Art Space, 5110 W. Irving Park.     $25. Course discusses the evolution of Graffiti art through its roots, migration, influence and development from a youth movement into a formidable art form. Class taught by FLASH one of Chicago’s graffiti pioneers.

FRESKO: An Exhibition to Benefit Haitian Artists
Paintings from Haitian artists from coastal town of Jacmel

Long held as an artistic epicenter in Haiti, Jacmel was broadly devastated by the January 12th earthquake. Each artist has their own story of having lost their home, family members, and their studios along with much of their work. In addition to the paintings on display, artisan crafts from one artist will be on display and portions from all drink purchases will go towards the artists as they continue to rebuild their lives in Haiti. The paintings on display, while drawing from a common cultural cache of images and motifs, highlight the dysfunction and turmoil of the artists’ experiences, which often subverts the typical pastoral naiveté common to Haitian folk art. Rose Marie Lamour and Prince Luc are members of the art school and collective FOSAJ located in the city, while Jean Marie Charles resides in the rural area surrounding Jacmel.
