ABOUT MONSTROCHIKA
(Naomi Martinez)
IG | @monstrochika
Hi! I’m Naomi a Chicago grown Artist. I create intuitively and from the heart. Everyday I try to draw something or doodle something! I work with ink, watercolor and acrylic and reuse and upcycle paper and fabric remnants. I’m inspired by finding joy in the everyday and making art helps to cope with the bad days. Every character I create is unique and I hope they carry a message to stay strong and be you. My mediums include illustration, mixed media painting, murals, zines and art dolls.
Naomi Martinez a.k.a. “Monstrochika”, grew up in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Her work is strongly inspired by Japanese animation, indie comics, nature and growing up between Chicago, Rio Grande Valley Texas and Durango, Mexico. An artistic career that began as an Apprentice Artist for Gallery 37 and Marwen led her to study Art & Design at Columbia College Chicago and she has continued her work as a Teaching Artist in various Chicago neighborhoods. She enjoys sharing the art of doll making and joining with other artists to activate public art spaces.
