In times like these, we’ve decided to look to Star Trek TNG as example of a possible future where we move past greed, partisan politics and the Rick Santoriums, to a reality where humans are motivated by the pursuit of knowledge and not profit (unless you are a Ferengi).

Where No Man has Gone Before (6 pm – 7 pm)
When a specialist in propulsion makes modifications to the Enterprise’s warp drive that send it 2.7 million light years out of the galaxy, then an impossibly unreturnable 1 billion light years in the other direction, it is his assistant, a mysterious alien, and Wesley Crusher that must bring it back home. This is very important episode in regards to the star trek universe since it introduces the Borg as the orveraching nemesis of the federation but it also shows Humans true place within the vast cosmos.

The Measure of a Man (7 pm – 8 pm)
The Enterprise must defend Data’s status when Starfleet demands his reassignment for study. This episode is a great example of Star Trek’s ability to tell a suspenseful character driven drama. With Data’s fate hanging in the balance, Capt. Picard and Com. Riker struggle to define the unique quality that designates life.

Best of Both Worlds Part 1 & 2 (8 pm – 10 pm)
The Borg begin an invasion of Federation space much sooner than was expected. With the Enterprise unable to affect them, the Borg capture Captain Picard and turn him into one of their own. With Captain Picard assimilated by the Borg, the enemy is able to totally vanquish a Starfleet/Klingon armada at Wolf 359, leaving Riker in command of the Enterprise and forced to go one on one with his former captain. This is Star Trek at its finest, with epic space battles, characters being forced to deal with inner demons, and the crew of enterprise forced in to battle with the Capt. Picard at the helm of the borg as they set their sights for earth.

Cause and Effect (10 pm -11 pm)
The destruction of the Enterprise near a distortion in the space-time continuum causes a temporal causality loop to form, trapping the ship and crew in time and forcing them to relive the events that led to their deaths. Star Trek has a lot of bottle episodes that happen but have not impact on the overall series, this episode is great example of a bottle episode.
